Welcome! What do you get when you cross five guys steeped
in 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s country, Chicago blues, rock and roll stage shows, and campfire crooning?
THE GREENHORNS!
Hailing from Right-In-The-Middle of Kansas (near McPherson), The Greenhorns play a mix of old country, bluegrass classics,
and a lot of good ol’ songs you may not have heard since you scratched your daddy’s records. Having
fun is what the Greenhorns are all about, whether it’s playing a Johnny Cash classic, a recent cover of an Old Crow Medicine Show tune,
or something from the Oh Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack. “Those guys are having
too much fun” is something often overheard at one of their shows.
K.D. Schmidt (fiddle) and Rollin Schmidt (dobro/guitar), both from Goessell,
spent many years with the country band Cactus Jack. After playing drums
for a while in a rock band, Dan Carlson ( Falun , KS ) picked up the banjo, learned a three finger
roll, and hasn’t looked back. After years of traveling the country, Jerry
Jones landed in Falun and plays the upright
bass and will usually sing a couple crowd favorites. Gregg Eichorn, now from Elyria , Ks, sings
most of the songs and plays guitar mostly for looks.
